Flag Raising Ceremonies

On the morning of April 20 at 10am,
Armen Janigian will be honored in North Providence at City Hall.

The ANC-RI Cranston flag raising is scheduled for Thursday April 19th at 6:30pm at the city hall. This is an annual event and we typically fill the council chambers. A local resident who has brought honor and pride as an Armenian and an American is honored each year. This year, Ara Boghigian has been nominated and has humbly accepted.

The Armenian Martyrs' Memorial Committee of Rhode Island is very saddened to learn of the passing of former Mayor Vincent A. "Buddy" Cianci Jr. He was a valuable and highly respected friend of the Armenian Community and his friendship will be sorely missed. As Mayor, he signed the lease from the City of Providence with our committee for the land at North Burial Ground, which is home to the Genocide Memorial Monument. His love and support of the many Armenian causes never wavered. He helped raise awareness of the Armenian Genocide every April 24th on his radio show. Mayor Cianci even joined us at North Burial Ground on April 24, 2015 as we celebrated the Divine Liturgy on the occasion of the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide. It has always been an honor and privilege to work with him and this loss will be felt for many years. We extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends.
